Life with Two Kids...

The second picture is the first time that the boys met. Corbin was very apprehensive about the whole situation.

I have found that I am NOT adjusting very well to life with two children. My day to day routine involves protecting a newborn baby from his curious two-year-old brother. I hate disciplining- it is no fun at all! Some of the things that Corbin has done to Wyatt lately involves 'sharing' a Teddy Graham with him (luckily I came to the rescue in time, Wyatt was gagging and choking), poking and prodding, particularly in the eye region, and lots of not-so-soft loves. Yesterday while I was nursing Wyatt, Corbie decided that it was time to learn to unlock the deadbolt to the front door. He proceeded to head out the door, barefoot, and began running down the sidewalk. I cut Wyatt's feeding short and chased after Corbin, catching him in front of our next door neighbor's house. I actually felt pretty good about myself in catching him before he got too far. Needless to say, I am tired of time-outs and scoldings.

Corbie has been pretty funny at times, too. He is intrigued by the whole nursing process, especially pumping. He caught me pumping once and came over, smiling. He laughed and lifted up his shirt and said, "Try me!" I was speechless.

Wyatt's stats from his two-week doctor's appointment are 9 lbs 6 oz and 21.5 inches long. That puts him in the 70% for height and 62% for weight. Can you believe that I have a relatively tall kid?

Anyhow, life is good, just hectic. I think that I will adjust to two kiddos one day.

Wyatt Pace Maxfield

Here is the promised update with pictures. Wyatt was born Monday October 19th at 4:30pm. He was 8lbs 10oz and 21 in. No those are not typos....he is a big boy with some nice cheeks. We both feel very blessed to have another little guy in our family. I will post a few pictures and then let Kris post an update later on in the week.

Countdown!

So, there are only THREE weeks left until this little baby boy is due. Of course, I am fairly miserable and tired and moody, but it's all for a good cause, right?

Well, Corbie turned two at the end of August, Walker went to Argentina for two weeks in September to pick up his brother from a mission, (Welcome Home, Joey!), and life has been crazy busy since then.

A blog post wouldn't be complete without an update on Corbin's latest and greatest feats. Corbie has been obssessed with guitar hero lately. He thinks that he knows how to play and will play air guitar if he hears rock music on the radio, etc. He has recently taken to calling me "Krissy" at times. It's really weird/funny. Last night while getting ready to go to sleep, he kept insisting that he sleep on "Krissy's bed". I was totally taken off guard, so I let him do it!

Oh, no! Corbie just woke up early from his nap...

Happy Summer

This summer has flown by! Corbie and I have a season pass to Cherry Hill, so we have spent a lot of time there... I have spent a lot of time chasing that kid and making sure that he doesn't drown. He has no fear of the water, so he will jump into the pool, try to run down the slide, and generally wreak havoc on everyone trying to have a calm day at the pool.

The 4th of July was great. I was scheduled to work a day shift, but it was really slow, so I was able to get off a few hours early. We headed up to my parents' cabin and spent a few days there with the fam. It was good times.

The 24th of July was great, too. We went down to the Bountiful parade with the Maxfield family and had a little get-together with the Burningham's. Corbs loves parades, particularly the candy. What is better than watching fire trucks and bands and other loud vehicles go by and have them throw 'nummies'?

We went on an overnight camping trip a few weeks ago with Walker's dad and sister. Corbie LOVED it! He loved the tent and throwing rocks in the river and running 'fast, mom' down the hill and playing in the dirt. My favorite moment of this little overnight trip was when the three of us woke up in the morning. Corbs jumped out of the sleeping bag and was wandering around the tent. All of the sudden, he stopped and said, "GUYS!" Then he pointed to the ground and said, "Poop!" I wondered if he had an accident in the night or if an animal had gotten into our tent and pooped or something. I sat up and looked to where he was pointing. There was nothing there. He just laughed and said, "Ha, ha." He has a tendency to do this a lot now. Take a toy away from another kid and say, "ha, ha". Steal my cell phone, hold it behind his back and say, "ha, ha". What a turkey.

Last week was pretty yucky- Corbie got hand, foot, and mouth disease! He had canker sores all over in his mouth and wouldn't eat for three days. He had a fever and was generally miserable. When this kid is sick, he is grumpy and wants everyone to know it! Walker and I had a few sleepless nights sitting up watching Corbie's favorite show, "George". He was contagious for about five days, which puts us at today, so we are glad to be able to get out of the house!

Baby update: I am now 29 weeks along. I prefer to think of it as 11 weeks left!

Update

Well this summer has been a busy one for us! Kris told me that I needed to update the blog so here it is...There have been many water activities this year. Corbin loves playing in the water. Whether he is at Cherry Hill, or out back on the trampoline with a sprinkler underneath, he is a happy camper.

His latest love is his scooter. We have been to a few people's houses lately that have scooters and Corbin LOVES playing on them. We decided that we would buy one for him for his birthday which is the end of August. We were at the store shopping and decided to pick one up. When we put it in the cart, Kristin said, "It's nice how we can still buy things with him with us." Turns out that statement couldn't be further from the truth. Pretty much from that moment on the scooter became the most important thing in Corbin's life. The filters from the furnace became the enemy because they were leaning on the scooter. Nothing was worthy of being near the scooter. We got it in the car and hoped that things would get better once it was out of sight. That didn't work either. We got home and all he wanted to do was ride the scooter. We had several meltdowns from the moment we put the scooter into the cart until we got home and finally gave up on the idea of saving it for a full month. So far he has dragged Kris around the block a couple of times and we have taken it with us over to some friends house so he could ride his scooter with Nate. Pictures of the scooter are still to come....

Disneyland!

On Sunday we returned home from a week-long jaunt to Disneyland. Corbie LOVED it- especially all of the attention he received from Grandma and Grandpa and his cousins. Some of the highlights of Disneyland were the characters, especially Buzz and Mickey. Corbs still talks about wanting to give them a hug. The carousels, flying Dumbo, and the train were also a big hit. I wasn't able to ride any of the roller coasters due to my ever-expanding belly, but I experienced them vicariously through Walker.

I found out a few weeks before we embarked on our road trip that Corbie gets car sick when he watches movies in the car. That was a bummer, but he did surprisingly well, even without the entertainment of "Cars" or "George".

I think every kid needs to experience Disneyland!

It's True!

I am pregnant! I am about 14 weeks along and glad to have the first trimester over with. I didn't realize how crappy I felt until it was over. It's nice to not feel nauseated and exhausted all the time! So, I am due October 26th. Judging by my history, and family tendencies, I expect that the baby will be born sometime in November. I am trying to mentally prepare myself for a 41-42 week gestation.... Anyhow, we will likely find out what gender the baby is on May 6th. Walker and I are super excited!

Corbie, Corbie, Corbie

I have been a bad mother lately and haven't journaled/blogged/scrapbooked anything of Corbie and his little quirks. So, here is all is in one fell swoop.

The crazy boy loves to shove things up his nose. Particularly kidney beans and green beans. One night it took a good sneeze to get the kidney bean out of his right nostril.

He loves to be mischevious when I am in the shower. He can reach the top drawer in the bathroom (it is the sole drawer that isn't childproofed). He reached into the drawer, pulled out Walker's watch, and was dangling it over the toilet. When I realized what was going on, I jumped out of the shower to save the watch. As soon as I got close, he dropped it. Luckily, with my experience as a nurse, retrieving a watch from the toilet wasn't devastating. However, telling Walker what had happened was!

A few weeks ago in sacrament meeting, Corbs was being a maniac boy and wouldn't sit still. He was so noisy and disruptive, I asked Walker to take him out. (I would take him out, but I lead the music and need to be available to lead the rest hymn/closing hymn, etc.) As Walker was walking out with Corbin, Corbs looks back at me, waves, and yells, "See ya!" Most of the congregation heard him. I just shake my head.

He has mastered the talent of climbing into his crib, but he doesn't dare climb out. So, he climbs in the crib a few times every day, and yells for 'dad' or 'binky' until I go get him. When he wakes up in the morning, he always stands at the bottom right corner of his crib, holding his balled-up blanket, sucking on his binky and yelling "dad, dad, daddy!" (I don't know why he yells for dad. I am almost always the one to get him out of his crib. He knows how to say 'mom'. Whatever.). If he is in a particularly impatient mood, he will throw his blanket and binky overboard, then start yelling longingly for them.

And last but not least, he burned his right thumb on a stove-top burner. I was getting something out of the top shelf, so I needed my stepstool. I was up on the stool and Walker was making noodles. He had just taken the pan off of the burner to drain the water, and was at the sink. I didn't notice that Corbs had climbed up behind me on the stool, and he reached out and touched the burner without us noticing until it was too late. He was a good sport and only cried for a few minutes.

We love our Corb-ers! He is so crazy and so much fun.

Here is my new hairdo!

So, what do you think? I am still adjusting to the shortness of it all. I like it, I think. It's tricky because I have to do my hair every day now. There isn't the option of sticking it in a ponytail- which is my favorite thing to do with hair. It was on a whim that I cut it, and I have only come close to crying once.

Happy New Year!

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't post a picture of Christmas? We had a great holiday season. Walker and I were both off of work for about two weeks, so we had a blast just chillin' around the house. We also went to the cabin for a few days. It was good times. Corbie had a wonderful Christmas.
